Northern Lights Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

Barb here with a fun tutorial using Copics and an Airbrush to create Northern lights in a starry sky.  I found some photos on-line to use.  Here is an example that I used.

Aurora-Chandalar

Here's what you'll need to get started!
Copic markers, airbrush, Express It Copic paper, craft mat.

Step 1:  Airbrush Y17 in 3 stripes across paper.  Leaving
the lower third white.

Step 2:  With V09 add 3 stripes right next to the yellow.

Step 3: With B29 spray all strips lightly to blend and
go heavier around the upper 3 edges creating a sky effect.

Step 4: Spray E23 to lower 3rd creating the ground.
Go back over with E18 around edges on lower 3rd to
create depth. This takes practice.  It took me a few tries
to get the look I wanted.

Step 5:  Now stamp your image.

Here's the finished card!

A close up of the image

I hope if you own a Copic airbrush you will give
this easy technique a try!  Happy Holidays!

I'm Thankful

Hi Everyone,

Are you ready for Thanksgiving??  I think I am.  Having a few friends over and cooking.  We always love leftovers at Thanksgiving.  This is the last card I made a few days ago for my sister.  She should have it by now.  I used Prickley Pear stamps on this one.  I love this huge sentiment!  I colored the flourished pumpkin with Copics and used that grounding technique again.  I am practicing it and I love the way it looks.  If you notice in the close up photo It's just a series of dots used larger around the bottom of image and the dots get smaller as you move away from the image.  You can find this grounding technique on Copic in the Craft room FB page with Colleen.  Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!   What are you thankful for!  For me it's my wonderful husband, family, friends and my health.

Cornucopia Thanksgiving

Happy Monday,

It's time for some Inspiration using Prickley Pear stamps and dies.  I thought I would make a Thanksgiving card because it is this week.  I love this Cornucopia, Wheat Stalk and sentiment.  It is a huge stamp as you can see.  It was really fun to color with all the detail of those fruits and veggies!  I tried a grounding technique that Colleen  shared in a video from Copic in the Craftroom on FB.  It worked out great! DP is from BoBunny Autumn Song and I colored the ribbon with distrss Ink. And added a few sequins and leaves.  Please stop by the Prickley Pear blog and check out what the team is up to today.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Wishing You Merry Christmas

Hello there,

I'm playing today over at the Unity Friday Friends With Flair challenge.  Just good for today though.  Using October's KOM.  Lots of great images on this one.  I just love this sentiment! and these little pine cones.  I colored them with Copics, then added some red Stickles on the berries and for some snow I added Liquid Applique.  Haven't used this in a long while.  I bet you have some lying around in your craft room!!  DP is Kaisercraft's Basecoat Christmas.

Flourished Polar Bear

Hello there,

It's Monday so that means it's time for some inspiration featuring Prickley Pear stamps and dies .  Today I chose to use Flourished Polar Bear, Snowflake Inserts, Mini Flourish die and Snowflake Pendant die.  I will link below.  I started by stamping then embossing bear with blue embossing powder.  Then I embossed white card stock with a snowflake embossing folder which add lots of texture, added snowflake tinsel embossing powder for a snowy background.  Brrrrr!  Added the Snowflake Pendant which I stamped sentiment on and added more snowflake tinsel around the edges.  Added mini flourishes, multiples of pearls, pearl flourish and turquoise dot sparklers.  The die cut across the top is Cheery Lynn.  I love this color combo as well.  Please stop by the Prickley Pear blog to see what the rest of the design team has for you today!

Eat Pie, Drink Wine

Happy Friday,

Today I'm playing over at Unity Friday Friends with Flair Friday challenge with some stamps that came in my KOM for October Love and Joy for the Holidays.  Have you signed up yet?  They are great kits to use every month!  I used 2 images from that kit and made a Thanksgiving card.  I stamped the images on watercolor paper then colored them with Nicholson's Peerless transparent watercolors found at  Two Hands Paperie.  Have you tried them?  They are such vibrant colors and soooo easy to use.  I didn't use a water brush, I bought a regular watercolor brush with a nice point on it as it gave me better control for smaller areas.  There is a gal on Unity's design team that has fabulous watercolor tutorials if you'd like to check her blog out here's the link The Storyteller .

Producted used:
DP: DCWV Sweater Weather
Fiskars border punch Give it a swirl
bling ek success
Zig wink of stella brush pen
Diamond Stickles
ribbon stash

Channel The Chef

Hello there,

I have been working on a few cards and wanted to try out some Copic techniques I learned last weekend at Jennifer Dove's Copic Boot Camp in Chandler AZ. It was so fun and I really learned a lot. So on this image from Stampingbella called Uptown Girl Channel The Chef I tried a new background using a water brush with colorless blender and markers. I like how it turned out.  Something different and looks like watercolor. I added some doodle rub ons from Christy Tomlinson, twine, a button and sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  I cut up the sentiment because it was going to cover the image. It works! DP is Cosmo Cricket TV Dinner.  Of course colored with Copics.
