Dogs Leave Paw Prints

Hi there,

It's Inspiration Monday featuring Prickley Pear stamps found HERE . My card features Paw Print, the sentiment Dogs Leave Paw Prints and Golden Retriever.  I don't own a retriever I really like this stamp though.  I embossed the retriever with white embossing powder and used 3 colors of Tim Holtz distress inks to color the tag. Cut tag down and added the Corrugated paper to the back. This sentiment  is one of my favorites separated it so it would fit into my design. I also sprayed the tag with Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Pearl. It doesn't show up in photo. Stop by the PPRS blog and see what the team has been creating!

By The Sea Mini Cabinet

Hello there,

I thought I would share this trash to treasure project I did a while back with Graphic45's By The Sea paper collection.  I just love this paper for summer!  I just used what I had in my stash!  A great way to use up some of that long forgotten stuff!  I painted this little cabinet I found at Goodwill for 2.99 and then sanded a little to give an aged look. Glued the paper on and then added everything else.  The door had some sheer fabric.  I just removed that. I think it turned out well!

Hitching A ride In the Garden

Hello there,

It's time for Inspiration Monday featuring Prickley Pear stamps and today I've used Hitching A ride. This cute little snail is giving his winged friends a ride around the garden.  Creating scenes with Prickley Pear stamps is easy.  I've also used Poppies Garden, sm and added a few clouds with with the Hot Air Balloons clear set. Then I just water colored everything with distress markers my new favorite technique! Then cut it out using the Scalloped Oval nesting die set.  The sketch is a Deconstructed sketch for  this week #160.  I often go to sketches for inspiration and of course the paper helps as well. So If you are stuck for ideas try looking at your stamps in a new way by combining them. While you are here pop over to the Prickley Pear blog and see what the rest of the team has for you today!

Beach Girl

Happy Friday!!!

Thought I would share a card I made for today's Friday Friends with flair over at The Unity Blog . I chose to use this wonderful stamp set called Beach Girl.  She's an Angie Girl. I simply love these girls. I wanted to make my stylist Jan this one cause she loves the beach. Anytime off she has she is there! Well she loved it and taped to her mirror! I used a simple water color technique using a water brush and Tim Holtz distress markers.  You can find this tutorial under my tutorials tab.  Really easy!!  DP is American Crafts Amy Tangerine Plus One, twine Doodlebug and Dew Drops, 140lb watercolor paper.

Watercolor tutorial with Distress inks

Barb here to share an easy way to color your favorite Prickley Pear stamped images using Distress markers/ink pads.  Water coloring is very popular right now in cardmaking so I'm jumpin on in today!  So let's get started!

Supplies:  StazOn ink, watercolor paper (140lb), water brush,
Distress Markers and or ink pads, kraft sheet, paper towels.

First grab your watercolor paper and stamp image with StazOn ink.
It is important to use this ink so your image does not run when
you add water.  I used Strathmore 140lb weight watercolor paper
I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

To begin I started with the leaves using Peeled Paint marker I
just squiggled down the center. You don't need to color the
leaves completely.  Take your water brush and work from the color out.
You can keep adding water til you like the way it looks.
There's no right or wrong to this method. Be artistic!

Here's what it looks like when you finish leaves.

Next do the centers of flowers. I used black soot for part, use
waterbrush to fade it out brushing away from black ink.

Now sqiggle in a little vintage photo ink and blend away
toward the edge with water brush.

Now for the petals:  Using wild honey marker add right outside
the center of flower all the way around, use water brush to blend
out toward tips of leaves. I went back and added a little Mustard seed
to tips of flowers and blended with water brush. Easy!
It may take a little practice but I like the effect!

Here's my completed card. I decided to add green to the
background. The white was a little stark.  I also added a little
white highlighting with a gel pen and some dots and faux
stitching with a Copic 0.3 multliner.
The tag is watercolored as well with mustard seed ink.

I hope you'll give water coloring your stamped images
a try!  It's quite fun!

Steampunk Tinman

Hi there,

It's time for Inspiration Monday on the Prickley Pear blog .  For my card this week chose to do a steampunk card using Steampunk Tinman and the Mini Gears dies.  It's meant to be a guy card with the oval sentiment with the tools and gears. Could be a Valentine card or birthday card.  I colored him up with Copics and fussy cut him out. I am always in need of guy cards for my stash.  They are always hard for me to do but this image is very well suited for cards for him! Easy to work with and color. I also used this weeks Deconstructed sketch #159. The link is below in challenges. Take a look and stop by the Prickley Pear blog and see what the rest of the team has for you today.
